My dining room table is once again the “crafting and production line”. After listening to what other parishes were doing in these hugely different times, it culminated with the forming of an idea to bring into our Group of Churches.
The Carr Dyke Group spreads across six churches with three primary schools (two Church of England). We know that not all the children in the villages go to these three schools, as the group has another three schools nearby. All the secondary school children from the villages travel to schools outside our group area too. We have realised that over recent years there has been nothing for those children we do not see and care for through our village schools.
Takeaway Church, which we thought was very apt, as this seems to be the only thing we can do, along with click and collect. This gives us the opportunity whilst our churches are closed to take our message out into the community.
We will leave boxes containing the takeaway bags outside two of the village Churches (Timberland and Walcott) for families to come and collect.
For January - Celebrate Epiphany with takeaway craft bags.
Children’s bags include materials to make activities for you and any teenagers/adults in the house. There are enough materials included to make a crown representing the Kings that travelled to see Jesus, a traditional house blessing and a snowflake activity.
Each bag contains a message on why we celebrate advent and its importance. It includes Bible passages for each day relating to the epiphany period. Included are mindfulness colouring pages for all age groups.
We would love to see your creations. Please share with me so I can put them on our Facebook
page.
We hope that once we can gather at church and in groups again, this will lead to the children coming together to partake in a service/group activity that still allows them to “takeaway” something from the Church.
