News & EVENTS
We invite you to pray for our nation

In response to reaching the terrible milestone of 100,000 deaths from COVID-19, the Archbishops invite all to call on God in Prayer. Starting on 1 February we invite you to set aside time every evening to pray, particularly at 6pm each day. More than ever, this is a time when we need to love each other. Prayer is an expression of love.

We remember before God those who have died and we pray that God's love will surround all who mourn them, now and always

Gracious God,
as we remember before you the thousands who have died,
surround us and all who mourn with your strong compassion.
Be gentle with us in our grief,
protect us from despair,
and give us grace to persevere
and face the future with hope
in Jesus Christ our risen Lord.
Amen.

TAKEAWAY CHURCH - Available NOW! Celebrating Lent & Valentine's Day

My dining room table continues to be the “crafting and production line”.

The Carr Dyke Group spreads across six churches with three primary schools (two Church of England). We know that not all the children in the villages go to these three schools, as the group has another three schools nearby. All the secondary school children from the villages travel to schools outside our group area too. We have realised that over recent years there has been nothing for those children we do not see and care for through our village schools.

Takeaway Church, which we thought was very apt, as this seems to be the only thing we can do, along with click and collect. This gives us the opportunity whilst our churches are closed to take our message out into the community.

We will leave boxes containing the takeaway bags outside two of the village Churches (Timberland and Walcott) for families to come and collect.

For February - Celebrate Lent and Valentine's Day with takeaway craft bags.

Celebrate the start of Lent and Valentines Day with Craft bags to pick up outside Timberland and Walcott Churches.

Children’s bags include materials to make the activities for you and any teenagers/adults in the house. There is enough material included to Love hearts and palm crosses. Mindfulness colouring pages also included.

We would love to see your creations. Please share your creations with me so I can put them on our Facebook page.

We hope that once we can gather at church and in groups again, this will lead to the children coming together to partake in a service/group activity that still allows them to “takeaway” something from the Church.

UPDATE: 12th February 2021

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

We confirm that, with the bishop's permission, public worship, including the saying of morning and evening prayer and holy communion, is suspended until Sunday 21st March 2021.

This decision is not taken lightly and taken with reluctance, but the current situation calls for us to continue with the stay-at-home rule and to help keep people safe.

Many of you have now had the first dose of a vaccination, and we hope we can return to some kind of normality soon.

In the meantime, we will continue to provide an online service each week.

We will also suspend the parish news for March, but hope to publish at the beginning of April.

Many thanks for your continued patience and understanding,

We continue to broadcast a service each Sunday at 9.00am and you can follow it by visiting our Facebook page here

The Church of England has several different apps you can use to help you pray, if you use a smart phone or tablet. The ‘Time to Pray’ app has been made completely free of charge. This app contains a form of prayer to use during the day, as well as Compline to use before going to sleep. You may find this useful during this time when we are not able to worship together in our churches. If you have access to e mail, we can send you a copy of Morning and Evening prayer for you to use at home. Contact details are below.

If you have questions regarding Baptism, Weddings or Funerals, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you need support or pastoral care, again, please contact me and I or one of the ministry team will be happy to help where we can.

In his letter to the Romans (8: 39), St Paul writes “Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” At a time in which what is called ‘social distancing’ is being required from the people of the world, what is actually required is ‘physical distancing’ – and that we can all be close to each other, and to God, in prayer, in love, and in many other ways – as God is close to us.

Please be assured of my prayers for you at this time.

Dear friends, as you stay at home and are possibly isolated from loved ones, family and friends, I understand it is worrying and at times can feel a lonely place to be in. These are unprecedented times and we are having to behave in ways which are alien to us. I therefore offer you the following along with my personal prayers and thoughts for you all,
Reverend Steve.

Our God is faithful and true, and times of anxiety offer us the opportunity to learn this afresh and be through Him signs of hope to those who are anxious and lonely.
May Christ in his Passion and Resurrection lead us all to a better hope.

God be with you in all circumstances. Let us continue to pray for one another and for our suffering world.

Our school is a single form entry primary school in the rural village of Billinghay. We take children from the ages of 4 years (Foundation 2 / Reception) until the age of 11 years (Year 6). If you are considering our school for your child you're warmly invited to come and look around school.

Our website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have.

Mrs Mary King Primary School -  Martin
Click on the school logo above to visit the school's web site.
Mrs Mary King’s is a small village school with strong community spirit. We aim to provide an excellent education to all who come to us. What we lack in size we make up for in attention to the individual.

Mrs. Mary King's School was founded in 1753 when the lady of that name gave land and set up a charitable trust to provide a school to teach the children of the parish "reading, writing and the common prayer." Our children still learn reading and writing every day, prayer remains important part of collective worship.

Nowadays, the school serves children from a wider area including the villages of Timberland, Martin Dales and Thorpe Tilney. We also have a number of children who come from villages outside our catchment area such as Billinghay, Woodhall Spa and Walcott.

Those who live in our catchment but more than two miles away are entitled to free transport to and from school. Although we are a faith school, we are open to all, and children of all faiths or none are equally welcome.
